What electronic pest control devices really work?
Q. I have a pest problem in my house with mice and insects. That traps and baits aren't really having that much affect. I have been seeing ads for Riddex and Pest Control Plus. You plug them into the wall and they send signals through your house to repel the pests. I would like to know which ones really work so I can get rid of this nuance. Thank You Sorry for the spelling errors

A. I've got 3 of the devices and still get mice. I think they're useless.

How much does it cost for pest control?
Q. I have bees swarming around my mail box and I am wondering how much that would cost for Orkin Pest Control that is. If you don't know can you give me an estimate of how much it cost?

A. We pay $50 every two months. They only spray outside unless we request indoor spraying. It has worked very well for us. We don't use Orkin, we use a local company. We used Terminix for several years but it stopped working for us so we changed companies.

In Florida, there are local organizations, some privatre and some state, to help new business owners learn the ropes. Some can be located through your county offices or business organizations. A. They do make natural pesticides now that use pyrthrins (spelling?) which are plant based. I use a plug in device that keeps the insects away called a Pest Contro by emitting an electronic field in the walls where the little critters hide. If in doubt, remove your bird from the house for a couple of days if traditional sprays are to be used. Have a tweet year

How in the world would someone get in a college for pest control?
Q. Why would anyone even want to become a pest control employee? It sounds stupid and there are easier, better paying, and cooler jobs. If you're in high school and someone would ask you, "So what is your dads job?" you would have to answer that he does best control which sounds boring and gay, then that would really suck.

A. I have never been embarassed by what my dad did for a living. It didn't matter what it was. It put food on the table, it helped me to get an education, and it allowed me to live a pretty decent life with my siblings. Pest control is a job that needs to get done and someone needs to do it. (what's that PBS show -- Dirty Jobs?) Some people have an aptitude for it, and others might see it as a way to understand a part of the animal kingdom from a different perspective. That perspective might allow them the freedom to say maybe I should become a biologist or a teacher that talks about bugs. This way, if you want to get a college degree and still honor, or follow in your father's footsteps, do it because you want to learn something,… [cont.]

I want to know if the electronic pest control is harmful to babies?
Q. I am having a baby this month and we have a problem with mice. I heard about the electronic pest control but I am wondering if it is safe to have in my house when I bring the baby home?
Asked by Stephie - Fri Dec 22 14:40:02 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Is that the silent noise that is supposed to hurt the ears of a mouse? If it is it didn't work at all for me! The good ole mouse trap with peanut butter worked the best for us. Well anyway we had that when we had our baby and it was fine with him. Although we returned it b/c it didn't work. Make sure you try to keep your floors clean when your baby starts to crawl and your bottles safe in a cabinet so mice can not run across them. Mice carry disease that could harm your baby. We moved!

A. I second that suggestion: RAID has always produced results. You just have to use it properly. E.G. You don't wait until you see the spiders, you spray where you have recently seen them, as well as where you do see them. Also, make sure where the spiders are, you don't have any holes in your foundation or broken windows. Don't make it easy for them.

There are still several laws that cover your works including the Pests Act 1954, Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (read! - very important for bird control) and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. What is "reasonable provisions for pest control" according to Florida State landlord/tenant law?
Q. When I first moved into my apartment complex in October of last year, we were getting monthly pest control from our apt complex but by a third party like Orkin or something. Not sure who it was. Then, and without anything in writing, they stopped providing it. Now if we want pest control, they come over with a spray can like you can get at Walmart and spray the apartment. Can they do this?!

A. The LAW doesn't require any particular means of pest control. Unless your lease agreement says something specific they can use any reasonable means to control pests; including doing it themselves.

UK question: How much does pest control cost?
Q. I'm not wealthy but I have bed bugs and I cannot stand them livng like this. It has made my life hell and I feel like moving house but I cannot afford to. Do you know any ways I could get a pest control company who charges less?

A. In U.S. and Canada, they charge a few hundred per room. The few pest control companies that I asked charge $200 to $400 per room. But be prepared to pay a lot more than this, since it takes at least 3 visits on average to remove an infestation. A. liquid pesticides get absorbed like water into the soil and eventually reach the underground water and pollute it. and according to your example, if there is a giant spill on a highway and it rains (doesn't matter when it rains) over it and the toxins from that spill get washed away from the road, and that's not it yet! they get into the drainage system with that water and this drainage water further goes out into seas, lakes, river, etc. and same with the care washing thing and other stuff you must be thinking that drainage water is treated before it goes to lake or whatever. yes that's correct! but! now that's a big but the enzymes used to break down the chemical waste cannot/don't act on those pesticides because each enzyme is specific… [cont.]

A. liquid pesticides get absorbed like water into the soil and eventually reach the underground water and pollute it. and according to your example, if there is a giant spill on a highway and it rains (doesn't matter when it rains) over it and the toxins from that spill get washed away from the road, and that's not it yet! they get into the drainage system with that water and this drainage water further goes out into seas, lakes, river, etc. and same with the care washing thing and other stuff you must be thinking that drainage water is treated before it goes to lake or whatever. yes that's correct! but! now that's a big but the enzymes used to break down the chemical waste cannot/don't act on those pesticides because each enzyme is specific… [cont.]
