Nature, in the broadest sense, is equivalent to the natural world, physical world, or material world. "Nature" refers to the phenomena of the physical world, and also to life in general. It ranges in scale from the subatomic to the cosmic. The word nature is derived from the Latin word natura, or "essential qualities, innate disposition", and in ancient times, literally meant "birth". Natura was a Latin translation of the Greek word physis (φύσις), which originally related to the intrinsic characteristics that plants, animals, and other features of the world develop of their own accord. The concept of nature as a whole, the physical universe, is one of several expansions of the original notion; it began with certain core applications of the word φύσις by pre-Socratic philosophers, and has steadily gained currency ever since. This usage was confirmed during the advent of modern scientific method in the last several centuries. Within the various uses of the word today, "nature" may refer to the general realm of various types of living plants and animals, and in some cases to the processes associated with inanimate objects–the way that particular types of things exist and change of their own accord, such as the weather and geology of the Earth, and the matter and energy of which all these things are composed. It is often taken to mean the "natural environment" or wilderness–wild animals, rocks, forest, beaches, and in general those things that have not been substantially altered by human intervention, or which persist despite human intervention. For, example, manufactured objects and human interaction generally are not considered part of nature, unless qualified as, for example, "human nature" or "the whole of nature". This more traditional concept of natural things which can still be found today implies a distinction between the natural and the artificial, with the artificial being understood as that which has been brought into being by a human consciousness or a human mind. Depending on the particular context, the term "natural" might also be distinguished from the unnatural, the supernatural, and the artifactual. From Wikipedia under the

Define natural selection and describe how it is related to the theory of evolution. How are natural selection and Darwin related? Asked by A - Wed Feb 24 20:49:05 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Natural Selection is how well an organism is suited for its environment. Basically survival of the fittest. But remember survival of the fittest doesn't mean the biggest and baddest wins. It means that organism with the best adaptions for the population will do better. Evolution by natural selection is the best traits that an organism has will be passed on through generations. Darwin and natural selection are related because he proposed the theory of natural selection. Remember a scientific theory is a scientific idea supported by facts. There were a lot of things Darwin didn't know about (like how the genetic mutations were made, etc.) and other scientists over the years have added to the theory. I noticed that many natural history museums in the Southeast US are called natural science museums and they mostly have, local items. They do not have many items as the natural history museums in northern cities such as Chicago and New York. I wondered why it is . The term natural history was most widely used in the eighteenth century to refer to the natural sciences. The differences you observe in name and content between the museums in the northeast and the southeast probably responds to the fact that museums in the northeast are older than in the south east. Q. I am looking to purchase 100% natural scented candles, preferably made of soy or beeswax. Right now the candles I purchase are natural soy but are scented with artificial chemicals. Can anyone point out a brand or general candle that is 100% natural both in terms of what it is composed of and what it is scented with? Thanks! They're very easy to find, here's an example: They have vegan, soy, goat's milk, lots are all-natural. Same with soaps :) The descriptions should tell you the ingredients, if they are all-natural, and if you like a scent but are unsure of the contents, Etsy sellers are always willing to answer your questions.
